  5 Year Old "Ministers"

  all witnesses are ministers.

  from the time a witness is baptized, they are considered ministers.

  this religion is getting more ridiculous each passing day.

  I remember hearing the one about John Denver. I also remember one about Mickey Rooney. It went something like this. Mickey Rooney war very patriotic and when he found out his gardener was a JW he fired him.

  Jdubs have to be the only people who enjoy the idea of being persecuted by the rich and famous enough to make up stories about it.

  Clever/snappy comeback for "you're an apostate"

  i'm looking for some clever comebacks.

  i really don't care that i am an apostate, but would like to deliver a quick comeback or two to perhaps make the other person think.

  any suggestions most welcome.

  I would ask them: "Do you even know what the word means?  The Watchtower is in a constant state of apostasy. Discarding their present beliefs for new and different ones i.e. "new light".  The problem is that their new beliefs i.e. "new light" always seem to prove just false as their previous beliefs and are soon disregarded for more "new light" which is replaced by more "new light" which soon becomes replace by more "new light".  An endless cycle of apostasy.   So before you are so quick to label me an apostate realize that you are also an apostate.  The difference is my apostasy comes form my personal understanding of things. I adjust my beliefs according to my own understanding of things where as your apostasy is based on the whims of some old men in Brooklyn who you have never met and for all you know might be quite insane.

  Why don't they retire?  Oh that's right no pension no 401K.  Even if they don't believe in it anymore they had better pretend to or they won't even have a roof over their head.  What a sad waste of their lives.

  1. it's not all about me.. each of us has to grow up our own way at our own pace.

  when we regain our balance we can be of help to other people.

  Good points but I really liked number 8. I always like the point made in the musical Hair. Be whoever you want. Do whatever you want to do just as long as you don't hurt anyone. I think that is how it went.

  Feeling sad over a wasted life in watchtower

  it's been 12 years since i first read ray franz's books and the scales came off my eyes.

  by that time i was in my forties.. since 2002 i went back to school and have worked with 3 very professional organizations.

  but my biological clock is ticking away and while my peers are looking forward to retirement, i am only beginning.

  You said it surfaces every once in a while. I can relate to that. Overall you need to be happy that you are out of it and your life is so much better because you did escape it. It ain't perfect but it is much better than it could have been. Thank you for sharing how you feel with us.

  Got ratted out for celebrating Halloween...

  one of two things will happen.

  i'll get disfellowshipped and never have to worry about being "told on" again for living a normal life, or; they won't do anything.. either way, it's freeing and i feel relieved... it will be sad if i get disfellowshipped but i've come to terms and made peace with it as much as can be expected.

  it's a huge weight to have off.. was told on a week ago and haven't heard anything.

  I managed to stay married to my wife after I left the Witnesses but I always felt it would have been over if I had had children at the time because I would have done everything in my power to have them not raised as JWs.

  Does having priveleges in the congregation mean you will have a successful marriage?

  after reading about tight pant tony's rant about sisters only marrying ministerial servants lest their marriage will be a failure what anecdotal evidence do you have to support this.

  the divorces that i am familiar with in the congregation show me that having priveledges in the congregation do not improve the odds of a better marriage.

  i would say about 60% of the divorces had at least one spouse who was a pioneer, elder or ministerial servant.

  I remember a guy I knew in a congregation I used to go to who was an MS. Married an elder's daughter. Was the perfect Jdub in everyones eyes. On course to being the perfect JW elder. That is till he got the hots for a young girl in the congregation and ran off with her. I believe she was 16 at the time. So much for that theory.

  Elders are going to the CO on me

  i celebrated halloween and my birthday and the elders have been told.

  husband told the elders i've called the religion a cult.

  they said i'm "heading down a road to be an apostate.

  Good job Cognac. By "domineering personality" they mean someone they can't control. They don't like that. You're supposed to live in fear of ever displeasing them. Once the fear of them is gone they've lost you.

  With all the court cases and all the information on the internet it is getting harder for them to hide the fact that they are a dangerous mind control cult. I hope the courts are beginning to see that and will take that into consideration in divorce cases.

  BTW my wife was the one that ratted me out also. I knew once I told her it would all come down very quick so I already had my letter of dissociation in the mail to them. I never held it against her because in her mind I was god organization.

  I have two take aways from the zoned out meeting

  out of three hours only two things really caught my attention.

  i was surprised there was no special annoucements or more new light.

  the first thing is that we know that the org is having a difficult time having young males reach out to be a ministerial servents to carry microphones and adjust the height of the podium.

  Well there you go. Not wasting anyones time at this meeting. They gave life saving information about what color of socks not to wear. And some breaking news that there are gay men in the fashion industry...who'd have thunk it. It looks like some in high places in the dark tower is having a little bit of a personal problem dealing with men in tight pants.
